The King’s Fund

The King’s Fund is an independent charity working to improve health and health care in England. They commissioned us to help them publish a collection of stories about modern technological advances in healthcare titled The Future is Now.

We designed and built a website in the vein of a long-form article popularised by the likes of The New York Times and The Guardian. We took full advantage of the digital setting, adding video and interactive elements that helped to enhance the story telling power.

The Future is Now is a long-form digital report. User experience is aided by the addition of a fixed sidebar that shows your position in the story for ease of navigation through each of the five sections.

We paid a great deal of attention to the design for small screen devices, the result is an easy-to-read, easy-to-navigate experience.

It was important that the long form reading experience involves plenty of breathing space. Employing highly legible fonts that work well across a range of browsers and devices to ensure maximum readability. Incidental illustrative devices also help root the reader into the story.
